Georgia Fall Adult Trip
Georgia Fall Adult Trip Details
September 30 - October 11, 2026
$2,750 (includes airfare and lodging)
Lynn Banks and Edith Barnes will co-lead our life-changing mission to the country of Georgia. PRUMC has been serving the Imereti region of Georgia since 1999. We work closely with our partner, Georgia for Georgia, to break the cycle of generational poverty through education. Our efforts focus on keeping kids healthy enough to remain in school, (through our Sponsor a Child program that provides nutritious meals, clothing, medical and dental care), and providing the skills and training students need to ultimately support their own families. On this trip we will interact with students of all ages at our partner schools with arts and crafts, science projects, musical activities, and field days, as we continue to provide our support and developmental aid.
Georgia for Georgia serves in the rural and impoverished western region of Georgia. When the Soviets left in 1991, they demolished once-thriving factories, leaving most residents to rely on small family farms for income. Residents now survive by selling homegrown fruits or vegetables or by bartering services. Most homes do not have electricity, gas or indoor plumbing, and most families are food insecure and struggle to keep their children fed and warm. Since 1999, Georgia for Georgia has steadfastly supported more than 400 children. The children attend one of four schools, three of which are K-12, while the other is a special needs school. The program provides a daily meal, sometimes the only meal the child will receive, and a winter coat for the brutal winters.
